Going wide in 2019 – Last chance to read all my books in Kindle Unlimited!
Hey, everybody! I have a special announcement to make today regarding the future availability of my books in Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited ebook subscription program in 2019 and beyond.
As some of you may know, in 2016, when I published The Superhero’s Test, I have released my ebooks exclusively in Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited (KU). KU requires a three month exclusivity period for all ebooks enrolled in the program, which means that I cannot publish any of my KU books on other ebook platforms like Nook, Kobo, Apple Books, etc.
But coming in 2019, I am going to begin taking all of my books out of KU and into wide distribution (“wide” meaning my books will be available wherever ebooks are sold).
Starting in February 2019 with The Superhero’s Test, you will soon be able to read a Lucas Flint superhero novel not just on your Kindle, but on your Nook, Kobo, and every other device and app capable of reading ebooks. You’ll even be able to borrow my ebooks from your local library through programs like Overdrive for free!
Even better for wide readers, I will release one book a week wide every week for the entirety of 2019. So you won’t have to wait very long in between books to read the next one.
If you are a KU subscriber who loves my books, I would recommend reading any of my books you haven’t picked up yet now. The first book won’t go wide until February 2019, meaning you have just over two months to read any of my books you haven’t gotten around to checking out yet.
Having said that, I am not abandoning KU entirely. New releases will always be available in KU first for at least three months, maybe longer depending on how well they do in KU. After that, then they will go wide.
It is also possible that I might put my books back in KU at some point, if they don’t do well enough wide or if Amazon can find some way to make it more worth my while. But I currently have NO plans to put any of my books back into KU after I take them out, which is why I stressed the importance of reading what you can while its still enrolled in KU.
I hope this announcement isn’t too inconvenient for any of my KU subscribers. I’m doing this because of some changes Amazon recently made to their site’s algorithms that have impacted the performance of my books there. By taking my books wide, I am hoping to make my career more stable than ever, thus allowing me to continue to write the great superhero books you have come to expect from me.
Thanks,
Lucas Flint
