Introduction

Villains of the Merge: Richard Plutarch

Hello! I hope you have been enjoying the character bios and introductions so far. The Merge is one of my favorite works I’ve written so far and I am super excited to share its characters with you.

Now we are on to our fourth character, Richard Plutarch, one of the primary antagonists of The Merge alongside Deacon Destiny. Read on to find out more about his eccentric billionaire with a taste for good barbeque:

Age: 60

Personality: Affable and big fun, but also ruthlessly pragmatic and merciless, both in business and to anyone else who dares to stand in his way

Powers: None

Quote: “If I wanted you dead … you would be. As I said, I’m not interested in unnecessary violence.”

Richard Plutarch is the billionaire founder and CEO of the enigmatic Destiny Corporation, a truly massive megacorporation with fingers in every industry known to man. In fact, Plutarch is on track to become history’s first-ever trillionaire, which he likes to remind anyone who asks (and especially people who don’t).

Despite seeming like a bumbling oaf most of the time, Plutarch is not an enemy to be underestimated, as many of his business rivals have learned the hard way over the years. Between the countless mergers and acquisitions, the Destiny Corporation has grown to become the biggest corporation on the planet.

But profit is clearly not the goal on Plutarch’s mind, given the amount of investment he has personally poured into the company’s experimental tech division. Some say he’s merely trying to build a better future for humanity, but the obvious connection between the Anomalies and the Destiny Corporation suggests darker motives.

One thing is for sure: Anyone who can make an Anomaly as powerful as Deacon Destiny serve him is not to be underestimated.

That’s it for Plutarch! Of course, there is a lot more to him than what this short introduction shows, but I hope it gives you a pretty good idea of what role he’ll play in the story. Preorder The Merge #1: Unity on Amazon HERE to see Plutarch as he ruthlessly crushes anyone who stands in the ways of his goals, releasing Monday, March 31st.

But we’re not done yet! Next week, get ready to meet Brainstorm, the father of Justin and another one of our heroes.

Thanks,

Lucas Flint
