Introduction

Villains of the Merge: The Anomalies

Hello! We are finally ready to meet some of the Anomalies that have been terrorizing New Gold City over the last six months. You can see images of three of them above, ranging from Level One to Level Four on the ATES (more about that below), and each one dangerous in their own right.

Learn what we know about the Anomalies so far, as well as what we suspect:

Mysterious creatures and monsters that cause disruptions in our reality, called Warps by scientists who study them, that create massive property damage wherever they appear, as well pose a significant threat to human life. Their true origins are unknown but appear to be related to whatever the Destiny Corporation is doing at one of their manufacturing plants in the city.

To help authorities deal with the Anomalies appropriately, New Gold City superhero and genius scientist Brainstorm devised the Anomaly Threat Evaluation Scale (or ATES for short). Using AI analysis of individual Anomalies, Anomalies are rated on a scale from Level One to Level Six. An accurate level on the ATES, however, is dependent on accurate data for each individual Anomaly, so it

is possible for an Anomaly’s level to be upgraded or downgraded depending on the data that the AI doing the analysis in question has.

Based on their appearances alone, Anomalies look like something straight out of horror movies, but their true purpose and goals remain unknown. Are they simply trying to destroy reality or is there another method to their madness?

To learn more about the Anomalies, preorder The Merge #1: Unity on Amazon HERE, releasing Monday, March 31st.

And now, the stage has been set! You have met all the major heroes and villains in The Merge, so all that remains is to read about how they interact and clash with one another …

At least, I would say that.

In fact, there are three more characters, whose true allegiances are unknown, I want to introduce to you in this series of emails. These three might be heroes, they might be villains, but one thing is certain:

They have an agenda of their own and Justin and his friends will struggle to understand it.

So on Friday, get ready to meet the first and, perhaps most important of these three characters:

The Handmaiden of the Merge.

Thanks,
